Setting Up

The Dinky game development systems runs on Mac and Windows.

You will need to following tools and programs installed...
Python
TexturePacker
psd-tools
...and some kind of text editor, it's not important which one but we recommend BBedit (for Mac) or Sublime Text (Mac and Windows).

Python comes installed on a Mac, but will need to be installed on Windows via the link https://www.python.org/downloads/
Install Python 2.7, not 3.X

If you're going to be building sprite sheets, you need to install psd-tools, TexturePacker, and Photoshop

Once Python is installed and working, install psd-tools
pip2 psd-tools

TexturePacker can be purchased at https://www.codeandweb.com/texturepacker
You will need to install the TexturePacker command line tools: https://www.codeandweb.com/texturepacker/documentation/installation-and-licensing

A subscription to Photoshop will need to be purchased from Adobe at https://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop.html

The internal tools Wimpy and JoJo (the game engine) will be in a shared Dropbox folder and Slack notification will be given when they update. You will need to unzip them and place them in the appropriate place for Mac or Windows. It is also recommended you update these tools each morning before working.
